“Lost” iPhone is a fake…aaaand I’m ’bout 90% sure

About the “lost” iPhone that was found in a bar in Redwood City…

I don’t know this “Steve Jobs” (or if he’s real - Fake Steve Jobs, et al.), but, from what I’ve read, he wouldn’t let this happen.

It may have been one of these so-called “prototype plants.” Because I highly doubt it’s the final design. The “found” iPhone design reminds me of the Titanium Powerbooks:

A great design at the time, but Apple’s product design has evolved. Apple designs out as many lines, crevices, seams, and protruding satellites as possible. I’m sure many of the features that this “Gizmodo” guy (if that’s his real name) found on the “lost” iPhone will make it to the “real” iPhone that ships in July: front/back camera with flash, split metallic volume buttons, native internet tethering (I added that), etc.

I think the design should and will reflect the new iPad. I very much enjoy the rounded back but flat sides. It just feels right.

I’m not sure why Apple would invest so much time and energy with a physical design replicated on its iPad, MacBook as well as their monitors and scrap it for this poor “found” iPhone design.

My thinking is that this “lost” iPhone was a proto-type a la automobile prototypes that are dressed up so you don’t see the “real” design:

Right? I can’t tell if that’s a hatchback, SUV, sedan, or clown car. (Answer: A 2011 BMW)

And to Gray Powell, the Apple Engineer who “lost” the phone. You’ll probably be in some meetings with the big guy. Let me know if this “Steve Jobs” exists. Call me? Next time, drinks are on me (and Eric Schmidt - who, by the way, hasn’t accepted my Facebook friend request, Eric?).
